swirls and burls
Yep, that's me!
The Shop Now
Here is a shot of the new and improved shop, with dust collection, air compressor, and new ceiling with additional lighting. Spiffy, eh?
Hey, that's me! Here I am at the lathe, about to take a whack at a very hard burl. Yes, I use eye protection, I just took it off for the portrait!
Half the shop
Here's half my shop. This is an older photo; notice the unfinished ceiling and low-level lighting? Fixed now!
The other half
Here is a long view, with me working at the end.
Burl Bowl in progress
I am actually cutting on the burl, but the cut is so interrupted, you can't see it!
Individual stones and mixtures ranging from finely ground powders to aggregates in 8 different grades are added my hand in stages.
Some mouth-watering new exotic stock
A walnut plate on the way
This one is now complete, and has a stone inlay band. The finished piece is posted here in the platters, plates, and wall hangings portfolio.
